HOW TO TRUST YOUR DECISION-MAKING SKILLS
Decision Making
Albert Einstein once said, “The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honours the servant and has forgotten the gift.”
Inside all of us is our intuition.
It’s commonly referred to as a gut feeling, or a hunch.
All in all, it’s unconscious reasoning.
It’s when within ourselves we know the answer to something. We know which choice is correct, though we can’t really put our finger on how we arrived at that decision. Something just feels right about the answer we have come up with. It’s something we are born with.
It’s also something that over time we forget. In today’s society where there is so much external stimulus, we are less likely to know what’s going on within ourselves. We lose touch with our internal guide. We become less present and less connected to our intuition.
Often this disjointed relationship with our intuition comes from a place of fear. We fear being different due to society’s standards, fear being wrong or making mistakes. We want to be like everyone else so we just go along with what someone else says.
This happens when we are making decisions — especially big ones. We start listening to the voices in our head telling us we should play it safe and not take any risks.
We ask others for their opinions. We don’t trust ourselves. By asking others, we can shift all responsibility for consequences. We also fear what they will say. It’s not easy to stick to your beliefs if someone is questioning them, however you need to remain hell-bent in your belief that you are making the right choices.
What we need to do is start realising that making mistakes isn’t actually a bad thing. If we see it as a learning experience, we can start to trust ourselves more with making the calls.
Within ourselves is everything we need to make a decision. We have a superpower and we need to start using it more.
Here’s what you can do:

Meditate on it
Start your meditation and visualise each option you are deciding between. Notice how each one makes you feel within yourself. One option will make you feel more at ease and will feel lighter. Easier. That is the option you need to go with — it’s your intuition talking.
Trust you know what is best for you
Our loved ones really want the best for us, however they cannot tell us what we should do. Only we know our own destiny and path and we have to walk it.
Learn to let go of the pressure
We put so much pressure on ourselves to make the right decision that we forget there is no wrong answer. We forget that each decision and result is only another opportunity to learn. We need to relax, appreciate life’s journey and just enjoy the ride.
Get moving
By changing our state we can release the ‘stuck’ feeling this big decision might have us in. Moving will get the blood pumping and the oxygen in. It doesn’t really matter what you do, but by inviting movement in, you welcome a change in thinking.
One way to look at it is to trust that what you are experiencing in life at this moment — whether it’s a big decision or a smaller one — is exactly what you need at this point in time.
By trusting that the universe has its plan for you and that any consequences will always result in learning, you can trust that you are the master of your own destiny.
Life isn’t just about what happens to you — it’s also about how you carry yourself through it.
